Major island investment cycle worth 4 billion euro; Council for Adriatic Croatia to be establishedToday an Island Council meeting was held on Korčula and attended by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Branko Bačić. The Prime Minister said the islands are not the periphery, but rather a strategic asset of Croatia. By pointing out that approximately 128,000 people live on 53 inhabited islands in Croatia, the Prime Minister emphasised the substantial contribution of the islands to Croatia’s GDP – since every fourth overnight stay during the tourist season took place on an island.
