Government grants Split right to build Hajduk football camp in Stobreč
Hina - The government on Thursday granted the City of Split a 50-year right to build a football camp for Hajduk on state-owned land in Stobreč.
"A special message for Split, Dalmatia and Hajduk," Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said. The site covers 71,973 square metres and is valued at €8.7 million. Although the fee for the 50-year right to build was set at nearly €6 million, the government decided to grant the right free of charge.
Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić said economic and social analyses had identified Stobreč as the most suitable location for a modern football camp, which he said would contribute to the development of football at both local and national level.
The City of Split may transfer the right to build through a public tender, but only for the purpose for which it was granted. The camp must be completed within five years of the signing of the agreement.
Bačić said Split would adopt a new urban development plan defining the construction of the camp, noting that Hajduk's existing football infrastructure in Split dates from 1979 and no longer meets modern standards.
He also announced that the ministry would present the public with its assessment of the structural condition of Poljud Stadium and the possibility of its reconstruction later this year or early next month. The assessment was prepared in cooperation with five institutions, four faculties of civil engineering and the Croatian Chamber of Civil Engineers, he said.
