Minister Bačić on a working visit to Orebić – cadastral survey launched and new water supply pipeline opened
Today Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić visited Orebić Municipality for a working visit, accompanied by Director of State Geodetic Administration Antonio Šustić. On that occasion, the Minister marked the beginning of the cadastral survey in Orebić Municipality and participated in the opening ceremony of the new water supply pipeline of Gornja sela in Viganj settlement.
Minister Bačić started the visit in the Maritime Museum of Orebić, where he ceremonially launched the cadastral survey. The ceremony was also attended by Director General of State Geodetic Administration Antonio Šustić, Dubrovnik-Neretva County Blaž Pezo and Orebić Municipality Prefect Tomislav Ančić.The project is implemented as part of the Annual Programme of Cadastral Surveys in Construction Areas for 2025, and it entails 3,249 cadastral plots and 890 buildings across the surface of 103 ha. The contracted value of the services is 910,318.75 euro, and the contractor is Geoprojekt Zagreb 20 d.o.o.
“This is a great day for Orebić - such cadastral survey hasn’t been conducted for nearly two centuries. Considering Croatia’s development and our needs, now it is time we finally organised the most valuable register of our assets. This year the cadastral surveys are conducted in Trpanj, Orebić and in several other cadastral municipalities in Dubrovnik-Neretva County. According to the planned schedule, we expect to have surveyed the entire building area of the country by 2031,” Minister Bačić pointed out.
Updating the cadastre and land registry increases the real estate value, ensures ownership transparency and legal certainty for investors, which encourages economic development and funding from European funds.
“These investments generate specific benefits, from increasing the real estate value to strengthening the interest of investors and enhancing management. Such projects are the best evidence that investing in organising land registers means investing in long-term economic development,” the Director General added.
This project is part of the Multi-Annual Cadastral Survey Programme in Construction Areas for the 2021-2030 Period, launched by the Government of the Republic of Croatia and implemented by the State Geodetic Administration. The main objective of the Programme is to update the cadastre and land registry for 600,000 ha of land and real estate in construction areas across Croatia, with planned funding of 401 million euro.
“The space of 600,000 ha encompasses areas of the Republic of Croatia where almost 90% of investments take place. Hence the decision to develop a new cadastre and land registry in the first stage precisely where it would be most beneficial to our fellow citizens and entrepreneurs was the right one,” Minister Bačić said.
Based on the Multi-Annual Programme, the Government adopted three annual programmes encompassing 85,000 ha, or 520,000 cadastral plots in 106 municipalities and cities, for which 80 million euro was allocated.
In Dubrovnik-Neretva County, 18.5 million euro was invested in cadastral surveys, with 7,667,977.42 euro from the Multi-Annual Programme. It encompasses five cadastral municipalities with 30,293 cadastral plots across 1,646 ha.
Water supply pipeline of Gornja sela in Viganj settlement opened
Minister Bačić then visited Viganj, a place located in Orebić Municipality, where he participated in the opening ceremony of the water supply pipeline of Gornja sela in Viganj settlement.
“How important it is to have running water is best know to those who don’t have it. Living by the sea and off the sea, off tourism and agriculture, without having running water is a tremendous obstacle. This is a major event for approximately seventy families, who now receive what other people received a hundred years ago. I am equally joyful as those fellow citizens who now have water and who are encouraged in this way to realise the full potential of tourism,” the Minister said.
The project is financed by the European Union through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026. The overall acceptable costs of the project amount to 1,852,362.14 euro - the European Union cofinances 80%, and Hrvatske vode and Vodovod i odvodnja d.o.o. cofinance 10% each. The works have been completed within the planned period of 18 months, and the constructed public water supply network is 4,931 kilometres long.
The aim of the project was to provide access to water to the residents of Viganj, especially to vulnerable and marginalised groups. This does not only improve the living standard, but it also encourages economic development and preservation of people’s health, as well as water and water environment protection.
The contractor was Vodotehnika d.d., professional construction supervision was conducted by Hidroprojekt-ing d.o.o. Zagreb, and the construction project was managed by Subnecto d.o.o. Zagreb.
