Gov't approves list of 32 properties of strategic importance for the country

(Hina) - At its meeting on Thursday, the Croatian government approved a list of 32 properties of strategic importance for the country, from which the state expects significant financial benefits in the future. These properties are located in ten counties and the City of Zagreb.

The majority of them are in Istria County (8), Zadar County (6), Primorje-Gorski Kotar County (4), Dubrovnik-Neretva County (3), while there are two properties each in Krapina-Zagorje, Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin counties and the City of Zagreb. There is one property in Brod-Posavina, Sisak-Moslavina, and Virovitica-Podravina counties.

Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić noted that these properties are expected to generate significant financial, economic, developmental and social benefits from their use and management.

"One of the fundamental criteria for selecting these properties in this first decision was certainly their great potential for activation," he said, adding that almost all legal property relations for these properties have been resolved.

The decision establishes 32 locations in the first phase, and the use of each of them will require government approval. In addition to the activation potential, Bačić explained, other criteria were taken into account when compiling the list, such as the regional distribution of individual projects, ensuring coverage across the entire country.

Another criterion was the diversity of uses for these locations in the future, as these projects will represent a form of urban regeneration for these local government units, Bačić added.
