On 23 July 2019, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Predrag Štromar received on inaugural visit H.E. Xu Erwen, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, accompanied by Mr Liu Kai, Economic and Commercial Counsellor and Ms Zhang Ping, second secretary of the Embassy. Besides the Minister, the meeting was attended by Ms Jelena Zrinski Berger, General Secretary of the Ministry.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere full of praise for the mutual relations of our two countries, and the interlocutors pointed out the excellent relations and cooperation at numerous levels, as well as the common goals shared by our two friendly countries.
There is the wish to additionally expand the existing cooperation, and specific steps are undertaken aimed at new investments that would create win-win situations. H.E. the Ambassador expressed the wish for additional information on Croatia’s potential offer, for the latter to be presented to and to attract Chinese customers.
Minister Štromar briefly presented the Ministry’s scope of activities, whereas the Ambassador pointed out China’s readiness for enhanced economic and cultural cooperation. Very important in this context is also cooperation on transport infrastructural projects, as well as Croatia’s participation as a relevant factor in the „One Belt, one Road“ initiative.
The Ambassador announced for September the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China, and in 2020 China’s hosting of the 9th Summit China +17.
