30 contracts awarded for energy renovation of public buildings

(Hina) - Thirty contracts worth a total of €73.8 million, including €36.44 million in grants, were awarded at a ceremony on Thursday for the energy renovation of public buildings based on a call issued by the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets.

The funding is intended for the energy renovation of hospitals, community health centres, schools and other public buildings. The grant portion comes from the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković congratulated the contract recipients and expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

"Energy-retrofitted buildings are worth more and they save more, and that's why this is a long-term investment," the prime minister said, citing the basic aspects of the government's policies on decarbonisation, demographic revitalisation, digital transition and investment in education. 

Construction Minister Branko Bačić said that energy renovation was one of the prerequisites for achieving energy self-sufficiency in Croatia and reducing the consumption of energy obtained from hydrocarbons, which in turn would reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Green Croatia and Green Europe projects.
