45 new flats for households whose homes were damaged by Petrinja quake
Hina - In Gvozd and Sisak, in Sisak County, 45 new temporary flats were handed over on Tuesday to families whose homes have yet to be rebuilt after the earthquake, and the keys to the replacement flats were presented by Construction and State Assets Minister Branko Bačić
"By next summer, the houses and buildings whose owners and tenants are currently using replacement flats will be rebuilt. Once they return to their homes, these flats will be used by young families. This model, which we introduced in Sisak-Moslavina County, forms the basis of the National Housing Policy for Sustainable Living and will be implemented across the whole of Croatia," said Bačić.He stated that all reconstruction in that county will be fully completed by 2030.
In Gvozd, two multi-residential buildings were constructed, comprising a total of 26 flats, with a value of €3.3 million excluding VAT.
The right to accommodation in these flats was granted to beneficiaries who obtained tenancy rights under the Act on Housing Provision in Assisted Areas.
They will live in the flats under a symbolic rent of 7 euro cents per square metre, since Gvozd falls into the first category of assisted areas.
Later, tenants will be able to purchase these flats under favourable conditions. In addition, the flats are available as temporary accommodation for individuals whose properties were damaged in the earthquake and have yet to be repaired. These users may stay in the flats free of charge until the reconstruction of their homes is completed.
In Sisak, 19 families moved into new flats, part of one of the 59 multi-residential buildings planned for construction in Sisak-Moslavina County through various programmes of the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets.
So far, 29 buildings have been built and occupied, 28 are under construction, and two more are in preparation in this city 50 kilometres south of Zagreb.
County Prefect: 380 more flats in City of Sisak after reconstruction
Sisak-Moslavina County Prefect Ivan Celjak stated that there will be 380 more flats in the City of Sisak after reconstruction than before the earthquake.
"This is a major step forward, and when we add the reconstruction of public buildings, a newly built hospital, a new care home for the elderly, a retirement community, renovated schools, and the newly opened motorway, Sisak is now connected to Zagreb and open for economic development," he concluded.
