Today, at Ranjina Palace in Dubrovnik, a contract was signed with the contractor for the energy renovation of the clinic building in Kuna Pelješka. The ceremonial signing was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić, Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Blaž Pezo, representative of the contractor Miho Klečak (Capitalis d.o.o.) and Director of the Korčula Health Centre Sebastijan Fabris.

“This is an investment worth nearly 720,000 euro, and energy renovation will practically entail a completely new clinic building in Kuna Pelješka. Last year in April, the Ministry of Construction signed a contract with the Korčula Health Centre, whereby 180,000 euro was secured in order to initiate energy renovation,” Minister Bačić pointed out.

He also recalled that energy renovation is part of a larger project by the Government of the Republic of Croatia carried out by the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, oriented towards decarbonisation and reducing energy consumption, which contributes to achieving the climate goals of the European Union and the Republic of Croatia.

“As part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, 2.5 billion euro was secured for energy renovation of numerous public use buildings and multiapartment buildings as well. As a result, these buildings acquire higher value, consume less energy and provide their users with funnelling their resources to other needs instead of to utility costs. In addition, such projects also contribute to energy independence of Croatia,” Minister Bačić pointed out.

He also added that, for Dubrovnik-Neretva County, a contract was signed for energy renovation of 11 public use buildings, in the City of Dubrovnik and other local self-government units, as well as for renovation of nine multiapartment buildings in Dubrovnik. The total value of these projects is 33 million euro, whereby the Ministry secured 14 million euro of grants.

Dubrovnik-Neretva County Blaž Pezo pointed out that today’s contract is extremely important as it affirms investment into smaller areas and improving health care on the Pelješac peninsula.

“We will continue to strongly support such projects. The County will provide over 300,000 euro, which brings us special joy because health care is equally important in the county’s centre and in all other parts. Investment in health care will not stop - we invested in Kalos, Dubrovnik General Hospital, and we will continue doing so, through investment in public health, health care and social welfare,” County Prefect Pezo stated.

The energy renovation project of the clinic in Kuna Pelješka is cofinanced through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) via a public call published by the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, as well as through the funds of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Orebić Municipality and Korčula Health Centre.

This investment will significantly improve working conditions of the medical staff and the quality of health care for residents of Kuna Pelješka and the surrounding settlements.
