Croatian delegation, led by State Secretary Sanja Bošnjak, participated in an annual PuRE-net conference (the Public Real Estate Network), held in Amsterdam from September 17 to September 19 this year.

The PuRE-net is a European organisation which gathers national institutions and ministries responsible for managing state real estate. This year’s host was the Central Government Real Estate Agency from the Netherlands (Rijksvastgoedbedrijf - RVB), and 50 representatives from 17 European countries participated in the conference.

This year’s programme centred on a wider understanding of sustainability and resilience in managing state-owned real estate, the question of safety, improving data bases and digitalisation, housing, but also preparedness for future challenges (with a special emphasis on risk management, crisis management and continuous strengthening of public administration competence). The conference particularly focused on the field of strategic planning and development of future thinking methodologies, which establish and operationalise long-term goals in the field of managing state-owned real estate.

Croatian delegation had the opportunity to listen to lectures given by European colleagues and participate in interactive discussions with all conference participants through several organised theme workshops. In addition, State Secretary Sanja Bošnjak presented the strategic framework, vision, goals and effects we wish to achieve through the new Strategy for management of immovable and movable property owned by the Republic of Croatia 2026-2035, which is now in the adoption process. In her presentation, the State Secretary pointed out that the document development had focused not only on more efficient management, but also on millennial, social and ecological objectives to achieve a sustainable system which would benefit all citizens today and in the future.

All delegations considered the conference successful, inspiring and informative, and further cooperation was announced in order to ensure additional support in implementing reforms in the field of managing state-owned real estate.
