(Hina) - The government on Thursday adopted a programme of measures for the reconstruction of buildings in areas hit by the 2020 earthquakes, defining measures and procedures for the reconstruction of buildings, the allocation of financial assistance to citizens and provision of housing accommodation.

The programme for the reconstruction of buildings damaged in earthquakes in the City of Zagreb and in Krapina-Zagorje, Zagreb, Sisak-Moslavina and Karlovac counties is the main implementing document based on the Post-Earthquake Reconstruction Act, defining procedures and actions by all stakeholders in the reconstruction process.

In line with the Post-Earthquake Reconstruction Act, the number of participants in the process and the amount of necessary documentation have been reduced, said Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Minister Branko Bačić.

The government adopted a decree regulating the procedure to enter into transactions for the purpose of acquiring the right of ownership by the state-owned Real Estate Agency (APN) in the earthquake-hit regions of Petrinja and Zagreb, in the name of and on behalf of the state.

The decree sets the maximum price of real estate bought for temporary or permanent housing accommodation at €2,000 per square metre in Zagreb and €1,750 in other earthquake-hit areas.

The government also formed an expert council for reconstruction, headed by Bačić, with two deputies - Tomislav Pokaz as the representative of the prime minister's office, and Luka Korlaet on behalf of the City of Zagreb. The council has 19 other members, representatives of government ministries and experts.
