At today’s session the Government adopted the decision on donating real estate owned by the Republic of Croatia to the Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek for the purpose of constructing a new hospital building. The Government also adopted the decision on exchanging real estate with the City of Osijek and on amending the decision on donating real estate in cadastral municipality Komolac to the City of Dubrovnik for the purpose of constructing a kindergarten.

Construction of new Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek - a project of national significance

According to today’s decision, the Government donates land in cadastral municipality Osijek encompassing a total of 118,941 m2 and of estimated value of 12.1 million euro. This creates the conditions for the implementation of one of the most important healthcare projects in the Republic of Croatia - the construction of a new Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek.

Let us recall, in December 2023 the Government adopted the decisions on exchanging real estate with the Agricultural Institute Osijek and the Community Service Centre Osijek, based on which the Republic of Croatia became the owner of the land designated for construction. The Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek obtained a location and building permit in the meantime, meeting the criteria for land donation.

The construction of a new Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek is a project of national significance, which will highly benefit not only the City of Osijek and Osijek-Baranja County, but the entire eastern Croatia. A modern and functional hospital building will enable:
  • higher level of healthcare for a large number of citizens,
  • improvement of standards for providing healthcare services,
  • development of medicine and science and better working conditions for medical staff.

Decision on exchanging real estate with the City of Osijek adopted

At today’s session, the Government of the Republic of Croatia also adopted the decision on exchanging real estate between the Republic of Croatia and the City of Osijek, with the aim of further developing municipal infrastructure and preserving cultural heritage.

According to the decision, the City of Osijek will acquire undeveloped building land encompassing 86,504 m2, which will be used by the Unikom d.o.o. utility company to implement the project of constructing a sorting area and a recycling yard, a new administration building and storage facilities. This will ensure the improvement of the waste management system in the City of Osijek.
The Republic of Croatia will acquire a building encompassing 4,810 m2 in the city district Tvrđa in Osijek, classified as an individual cultural property. This will contribute to the preservation and further valorisation of valuable cultural and historical heritage.

The market value of the state-owned real estate granted in exchange is 6.26 million euro, while the value of the real estate owned by the City of Osijek is 6.07 million euro. The City of Osijek will pay the Republic of Croatia the difference of 190,000 euro due to the higher value of the state real estate.

A contract on exchanging real estate will be concluded with the City of Osijek, which will thoroughly regulate mutual rights and obligations of the City and the state.

Kindergarten construction project in Dubrovnik can continue

At today’s session the Government also adopted the decision on amending the Decision on donating real estate in cadastral municipality Komolac to the City of Dubrovnik, which creates the conditions to continue the implementation of the construction project of a new kindergarten.

Let us recall, on February 1, 2019, the Government adopted the decision on donating land encompassing 2,576 m2 to the City of Dubrovnik for the purpose of kindergarten construction, and on July 16, 2019, a donation contract was concluded between the Republic of Croatia and the City of Dubrovnik.

In order to enable the formation of a building plot and the access road necessary to construct the kindergarten, the Government has now decided to donate three state-owned properties encompassing 1,005 m2 to the City of Dubrovnik. The estimated value of the properties is 191,500 euro. This decision also extends the timeframe for kindergarten construction.

The implementation of this project will provide Dubrovnik with new capacities for preschool education, which is a response to the needs of an increasing number of families and children, and which contributes to raising the standard of the quality of life in the city.
