Hina - Minister Branko Bačić in Gospić on Friday awarded €6 million in grants for projects aimed at addressing housing needs for young people, improving municipal infrastructure, and enhancing the energy efficiency of public buildings.

A total of €2.9 million was allocated for the deep energy renovation of the Gospić General Hospital building.

According to the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, the renovation will result in over 50% savings in thermal energy and more than 68% in primary energy use, which is a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of the healthcare sector.

As part of interdepartmental cooperation with the Municipality of Vrhovine, €1.25 million has been set aside for the construction of a multi-residential building comprising 10 flats.

The municipalities of Brinje and Donji Lapac received contracts worth €180,000 to support sustainable return to state-assisted areas.

Minister Bačić signed agreements and co-financing contracts for strategically important development and revitalisation projects in the region with local mayors and municipal heads at the County Hall, where he also met with County Prefect Ernest Petry.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister began his working visit by touring multi-residential buildings in Lički Osik, which are currently being renovated under the Energy Renovation of Buildings Programme, funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Bačić also presented plans for the coming period, with an emphasis on implementing the National Housing Policy Plan and promoting the return of young people to state-assisted areas.
