Minister announces new construction law aimed at simplifying procedures
(Hina) - Construction and Physical Planning Minister Branko Bačić on Thursday informed the parliament that a new construction law will be adopted in 2025 to make home construction and building permit issuance easier.
The new law will additionally simplify the procedures for the construction of family houses, including the issuance of the necessary permits, Bačić told the Sabor.
The new legislation will make it easier for applicants to obtain building permits for blocks of flats and other structures, and will make it possible for owners to legalise all structures they built until June 2011, provided that they meet criteria for legalisation.
No structure built without permitsafter that period will be legalised, he said.
The government is going to propose a new law on zoning and energy efficiency upgrades, too, he said.
Croatia has only 70 construction inspectors, while there are 882 municipal services monitoring officers throughout the country, and therefore the latter will also be authorised to issue notices to investors/owners to suspend construction projects which do not have the necessary permits, according to the new legislation, said the minister.
