Minister Bačić participated in Fourth Humanitarian Builders' Evening in Zagreb
The Fourth Humanitarian Builders’ Gala Evening, organised by the Croatian Centre for Earthquake Engineering (HCPI), was held in Zagreb, gathering over 300 participants and 80 leading companies from the construction sector. The aim of the event was to raise funds for the reconstruction and improvement of living and working conditions at the Sveta Ana Children’s Home in Vinkovci. Over 250,000 euro was raised, and the total value of builders’ humanitarian actions to date exceeded 700,000 euro, bringing this initiative close to one million euro in total donations across four organised evenings.
President of HCPI Prof. Josip Atalić, PhD, pointed out the importance of the Humanitarian Builders’ Gala Evening, which arose from the simple idea that everyone should contribute as much as they can, highlighting the importance of knowledge and humanity in joint actions.“I believe this valuable tradition will continue in the years to come because such initiatives show the power of togetherness and responsibility of the building profession. Through this humanitarian gesture we send a joint message that we care about the community and those who need help the most. The construction sector is extremely significant for Croatia’s development, and its readiness to actively participate in socially responsible projects further affirms its important role in the society,” Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić said.
Donations will be paid to the Sveta Ana Children’s Home, which further strengthens the support to children and workers who promote better-quality life for the home beneficiaries every day.
“During more than 70 active years, our home has provided security, stability and a sense of belonging to thousands of girls and boys and in time it has become their true home. We are sincerely grateful to organisers and all donators who have recognised the importance of investment in living conditions of children. Thanks to the funds raised, we will reconstruct the centre building and improve the space where children grow up, providing them with a safer, warmer and more enabling environment. We believe that precisely such environments will further contribute to their emotional stability, reduce fears and ensure better overall development,” Director of the Centre for the Provision of Community Services in Saint Ana, Vinkovci, Zrinka Mikić said.
