The future camp of the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) in Velika Gorica develops at full speed. The construction of the third floor of the administrative building is currently underway, the stands are being installed in the stadium, and the assembly of the steel canopy construction will soon begin. On the western side of the complex, curbstones are being installed and roads formed, fencing is being put up around the field, while the drainage system around the future pitches is nearing completion.

The construction site was toured by President of HNS Marijan Kustić and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić, Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina, Spokesperson of the Government Marko Milić and Mayor of Velika Gorica Krešimir Ačkar.

They were accompanied by Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalić, technical director of the senior and U-21 teams Stipe Pletikosa, president of the Infrastructure Commission and vice president of HNS Nenad Horvatić, member of the Executive Board Nenad Črnko, head of the infrastructure department of HNS Andrea Dokuš, owner of Kamgrad Domagoj Kamenski, and numerous other representatives of contractors and supervisors.

Deputy Prime Minister Branko Bačić said he is pleased with the construction pace.

“I am truly pleasantly surprised by the work dynamics. I congratulate HNS as the investor, the contractors and designers. If the completion period is by early 2027, I believe that after next year’s World Cup we will celebrate the next success of Croatian football right here. This is a major moment not only for Croatian football, but for Croatian sport as a whole,” Minister Bačić said.

Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina highlighted the project importance for Croatian sport infrastructure.

“This is a great day for Croatian sport. After only six months we see tremendous progress. The Government strongly supports the project, which will house all national teams. This is an integral part of the Government’s focus on significant investments in sport infrastructure, this is a camp where all national teams will play. This will truly be the brightest example, as we will be able to showcase the centre anywhere in the world. And most importantly, this is where new future world football stars will be made,” Minister Glavina pointed out.

President of HNS Marijan Kustić expressed his gratitude to the Government, the City of Velika Gorica and UEFA for their support.

“Without their help, the project would never have started. In only a few months, we have made tremendous progress. When we consider such a major project, and the construction of the national football camp truly is one, and when we see everything that has been done recently, we can all be pleased and further motivated. I am confident that we will construct the football camp within the scheduled timeframe and that a football will finally start rolling on the pitches that are to spring here soon,” Marijan Kustić said.
Mayor of Velika Gorica Krešimir Ačkar pointed out that this is a historic moment for the city.

“This is truly the start of a new era of Velika Gorica. Primarily I would like to to express my gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Croatia, our Prime Minister, the responsible ministers present here today, Mr. Bačić, who from the very first day put this state land to our disposal so we could witness this beautiful story today, and responsible Minister Tonči Glavina, who finds the means to completely implement this project. By building the camp, Velika Gorica will become a football brand not only in Croatia, but also in Europe and the world, which makes our every citizen proud. We hope our national players return to Velika Gorica with medals and make us proud, as they always do,” Mayor Ačkar said.

Technical director of the teams Stipe Pletikosa added that the camp also has an important developmental role.

“All the works are progressing as scheduled, and the object will be a source of pride for Croatian sport and an investment in the future of our children. It will be a home meeting the highest European and world standards,” Pletikosa highlighted.
