Minister Horvat received the inaugural visit of the Ambassador of the French Republic

Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, Darko Horvat yesterday received the inaugural visit of the Ambassador of the French Republic to Croatia, HE Gaël François Veyssière.

At the beginning, Minister Horvat took the opportunity to thank Ambassador Veyssière for the donation that the Republic of Croatia received from the French Republic right after the earthquake, within the European Civil Protection Mechanism. He also expressed his condolences to Ambassador Veyssière over the recent terrorist attacks that occurred in France.
 
Minister Horvat also pointed out important elements of the reconstruction of areas affected by the earthquake - the adoption of the Act on Reconstruction, the establishment of the Expert Council for Reconstruction, the signing of the Agreement on the Establishment of the Reconstruction Fund, the adoption of the First Programme of Measures, as well as energy renovation of buildings. Minister Horvat underlined the importance of the financial support of the European Union regarding the energy renovation of public and private buildings.
 
Minister Horvat also informed Ambassador Veyssière about the activities that the Ministry is taking regarding the activation of unused state assets.
 
Furthermore, Ambassador Veyssière and Minister Horvat discussed issues of public-private partnership, Croatia's membership in the OECD and Croatia's integration into the Economic and Monetary Union as well as the Schengen area – matters to which Ambassador Veyssière gives his full support.
 
At the very end of the meeting, Minister Horvat and Ambassador Veyssière expressed their desire to further intensify the good cooperation between the two countries, and expressed their willingness to provide mutual support.
