Minister: Physical plans need to be standardised

(Hina) - Physical Planning and Construction Minister Branko Bačić said on Wednesday that it was important to standardise physical plans across the country, pointing also to decarbonisation as another important government priority.

Bačić made the statement while presenting local government officials in Varaždin and Međimurje counties with grant contracts intended to finance new generation physical plans and green urban renewal strategies as well as the energy renovation of public sector buildings.

The minister said that so far the government had provided funding for the energy renovation of close to 800 public buildings, more than 540 apartment buildings and 20,000 family dwellings.

"We will step up the pace of energy renovation to reduce the consumption of energy from fossil fuels, and we aim to increasingly use energy from renewables by implementing our strategy on renewable energy sources," Bačić said.

"We plan to reduce energy consumption because we depend on the import of expensive energy products, and one of the main projects that will enable us to do that is energy renovation. That is why for the period until the end of 2027 we have secured as much as three billion euros for that purpose," the minister said.
