In the Galdovo settlement in Sisak a new kindergarten has been opened – a long-awaited project of the City of Sisak which increases kindergarten capacities by six new educational groups, i.e. 100 new places for the youngest residents of Sisak. Along with County Prefect of Sisak-Moslavina County Ivan Celjak and Mayor of Sisak Domagoj Orlić, the ceremony was also attended by State Secretary Tonči Glavinić.

State Secretary Tonči Glavinić pointed out that investing in reconstruction and housing construction makes sense only if it is accompanied by family infrastructure. “Kindergartens form a part of every residential settlement under reconstruction - we invest in children and their future,” he said.

County Prefect Celjak congratulated Mayor Orlić and his team on a successful completion of the project, highlighting the importance of investing in preschool education. “The kindergarten in Galdovo is beautiful and I am confident the children will enjoy playing and learning. We expand kindergarten capacities across the county and we are grateful to all kindergarten teachers who take care of our children every day,” Celjak said.

He recalled that Sisak-Moslavina County has already built the first county kindergarten in Croatia and financed the equipment of the kindergarten in Strelečko, while school premises in Češko Selo and Lekenik have been repurposed for additional kindergarten groups.

Mayor Orlić expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Croatia for providing 4.1 million euro of financial support, essential for completing the works. “The support came just in time and ensured that Galdovo gets a modern, safe and functional kindergarten,” Orlić said, also thanking parents for their patience.

Acting Principle of Kindergarten Sisak Stari Dijana Vekić Cvetanović said that this is a historic day for Galdovo because for the first time ever the settlement has its own kindergarten - a place for children to grow, play and make their first memories.
