PM hands over keys to residents of 114 new flats in Sisak
Hina - In a newly built residential neighbourhood in Sisak comprising six apartment blocks, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Friday handed over the keys to residents of 114 flats.
The flats will temporarily house families and individuals whose homes were damaged in the earthquake and are awaiting reconstruction.Once the reconstruction of their homes is complete, the flats will be made available as affordable housing at a rate of €0.36 per square metre, announced Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić. He emphasised that these are entirely new buildings constructed on previously derelict land.
The apartment blocks on Capraška Street were built from the ground up in just 14 months. A total of 114 flats were completed across the six buildings, with the project valued at €17.9 million. In addition to the housing, the surrounding area has been landscaped, including the creation of a public square with a children’s playground.
"This project is of great significance for Sisak and the County. By the end of 2025, there will be 380 more new flats in the city than there were before the earthquake, which will provide a strong foundation for demographic renewal in Sisak and the wider region," said Sisak-Moslavina County Prefect Ivan Celjak.
Plenković said that €3.8 billion has been secured for the reconstruction effort in the areas affected by the Zagreb and Petrinja earthquakes.
By the end of the year, an additional 30 new buildings, similar to the six opened today, will be completed and occupied across the county.
