The Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets launched public consultation on key elements of the Call to allocate grants “Development of Green Infrastructure in Urban Areas”, intended for publication within the framework of the Programme Competitiveness and Cohesion 2021-2027. The consultation is open until August 27, 2025 at the eSavjetovanja Portal.

The subject and purpose of the Call is to encourage the development of green infrastructure in urban areas, with the aim of adapting to climate change and fostering risk resilience through the integration of nature-based solutions.

The subsidy will be granted for the development of Green Urban Renewal Strategy and the implementation of specific projects at the local level, in accordance with the Urban Green Infrastructure Development Programme 2021-2030.

Within the framework of the Call, 71 million euro is available. The lowest project amount is 200,000 euro, while the highest can amount to 4,500,000 euro. The maximum subsidy coverage is 85% of eligible costs. Eligible applicants are local (regional) self-government units, which carry out the project independently - partnership is not permitted.

It is expected that green infrastructure will become more available and of better quality through project proposals, and achievements will be monitored through indicators concerning the surface area of new green infrastructure and the number of residents who can access it.

Eligible costs are accepted retroactively, starting from January 1, 2021, if they are in accordance with the rules of the Call and the Programme. Eligible project activities are green urban renewal strategies, project and other documentation, project implementation, project management and administration, project promotion and visibility, horizontal activities and registering project and Strategy data into the Green Infrastructure Register.

Public consultation is open from July 28 to August 27, 2025 and available at the following link
