Today an opening ceremony of the expanded and modernised Različak facility within Sisak Stari Kindergarten was held, which significantly improves the conditions for the care and education of Sisak’s youngest residents.

This expansion project has led to six new educational groups, accommodation for up to 100 children depending on their age and group needs, significant improvement of conditions for both the staff and the children, additional amenities such as a sensory room and better energy efficiency and functionality of the building itself.

In the Različak facility there are now 14 educational groups ranging from nursery to preschool groups, which is a significant increase of the kindergarten’s capacity.

The project is worth EUR 3,213,970.07 + PDV and it is co-financed under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) in the grant amount of EUR 974,000.00. The total floor area of expansion encompasses 2,741 m2.

On behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić, State Secretary Tonči Glavinić addressed those present. He pointed out the importance of investing in preschool education projects and emphasised that the Government of the Republic of Croatia, under NRRP, continuously supports projects of constructing and expanding kindergartens across Croatia with the aim of ensuring equal conditions for all children, regardless of where they grow up.

Mayor Domagoj Orlić expressed gratitude to those who had participated in implementing this important project. He highlighted that investing in preschool and school education is the most important investment we can make, noting that many children will spend crucial years of their childhood precisely in this space - learning, growing and making life-long friendships.

The Mayor pointed out that the City of Sisak allocates nearly 30% of its budget to programmes and projects intended for children and young people, which is a clear indication of the direction and priorities of the city administration. He said that the City of Sisak will remain a partner and provide support in all future steps, and he wishes a beautiful, safe and happy childhood to all in the newly developed space.
