State Secretary Uhlir on a meeting with Matthew Baldwin

On the sidelines of the conference, the Ministry’s representatives led by State Secretary Željko Uhlir held a meeting with Mr. Matthew Baldwin, Deputy Director-General of Directorate-General for Energy at the European Commission.

State Secretary Uhlir presented the National Housing Policy Plan of the Republic of Croatia until 2030 (NPSP), the analyses conducted for the purpose of developing the NPSP, regional differences in Croatia with a special emphasis on diversity in comparison to other Member States, and activities already carried out for the purpose of achieving affordable housing, together with the new legislation framework currently under development.

Deputy Director-General of Directorate-General for Energy and Head of Task Force Housing at the European Commission Matthew Baldwin pointed out that he is familiar with Croatia’s National plan, which is a comprehensive strategic document and an example of good practice to other Member States and the Commission in the process of developing the European Affordable Housing Plan.

The meeting focused on the severity of the housing challenge across the European Union and the need for a strategic approach which will generate a long-term positive effect on housing affordability.

Discussions with the European Commission on affordable housing will continue in the upcoming period and Croatia will actively follow the development of the European Affordable Housing Plan in order to adapt its measures and activities accordingly.
