State Secretary Željko Uhlir on official visit to the Czech Republic
State Secretary Željko Uhlir and Adviser of the Minister Nevenka Koričančić paid a working visit to the Regional Development Ministry of the Czech Republic. In order to strengthen international co-operation, a meeting was held with the Director of the Housing Policy Department, Jirí Klíma, who presented the housing policy and projects currently being implemented in their country.
State Secretary Uhlir presented the models of housing care implemented by the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Croatia. Housing policy measures in Croatia have only positive effects for citizens and are implemented through two specific programmes, that is Subsidisation of housing loans and the Programme of state-subsidised housing construction (POS), said Uhlir.
Subsidisation of housing loans is an aid measure by which the payment of a part of the housing loan for the first five years of loan repayment is subsidises. The measure has been implemented since 2017, more precisely the tenders were conducted in 2017 and 2018, and young people will be able to apply for subsidised housing loans in the fall of 2019 and 2020, when new tenders will be launched. In just over a year, more than 5300 families solved their housing issue through subsidised housing loans.
In the next two years, it is expected for five or six thousand families to buy an apartment or house or build a house with the help from this measure. The measure also has a demographic character, because there are more than 300 children born so far in families using the subsidy.
Another measure of housing care is the construction of POS housing, where young families get safety and quality of construction for lower prices than those on the market. Since 2001, when the POS programme has been implemented, more than 8,000 apartments were built in which more than 4 billion HRK were invested from the state budget. In the next two years, it is planned to build a new thousand apartments in locations: Zadar, Split, Trogir, Solin, Biograd na Moru, Bol, Cres, Krk, Kraljevica, Lovran, Poreč, Vis and Vrsar.
The working meeting took place in an extremely friendly atmosphere, the countries exchanged their experiences and knowledge in the field of housing policy through constructive discussions and they also expressed their wish for continuation of cooperation.
