Zadar: Agreements signed for housing construction and renovation
Hina - During a visit to Zadar on Thursday, Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić signed two interdepartmental cooperation agreements to implement a government programme for the construction and renovation of state-owned housing units in assisted areas.
The agreements concern housing for young people and families in two residential buildings in the town of Obrovac, worth €2.8 million, and a multi-residential building in the municipality of Stankovci."These are primarily intended for young families, but the flats will also be used to address staffing needs. It's important to note that the rent for these flats will be €0.36 per square metre, which is around 25 times lower than the average rent in Zadar County," Bačić said.
He added that housing is a basic human need and forms the foundation of family and emotional life.
"As long as housing is unresolved, a person cannot fully realise themselves. It is in the nature of us Croatians to want to own a home. Unlike some other nations who spend their whole lives renting, we have a strong desire for home ownership," the minister said.
In addition to the housing agreements, Bačić also handed over 14 funding decisions to local mayors for municipal infrastructure projects aimed at improving utility services in 2025, with a total value of €457,100.
"We accepted 14 projects submitted in response to a public call, covering the improvement of local roads, public squares, lighting and overall infrastructure. Although small in scale, such projects often have a significant impact on the daily lives of our citizens," he said.
He noted that a renovated street, a refurbished park, a children's playground or new street lighting can greatly enhance quality of life.
