Zadar: Contracts signed for affordable housing, transport infrastructure
Hina - Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets Branko Bačić on Monday in Zadar awarded contracts aimed at promoting affordable housing and improving transport infrastructure in the area.
A land donation agreement was signed between the City of Zadar and the state-owned Real Estate Agency (APN) for a site in the Smiljevac district, where around 130 apartments for young families are planned.“We have more than 1,200 interested applicants, and with this project we plan to significantly increase the availability of housing under more favourable conditions,” said Zadar Mayor Šime Erlić, adding that Zadar is among the leading cities in terms of the number of apartments built through the APN.
Minister Bačić highlighted the importance of the affordable housing programme, which, he said, the government sees as one of its priorities. “We want to enable young families to obtain their own homes under affordable conditions. This is a complex project, but I am confident it will be implemented,” he said.
Through the state-subsidised housing programme, APN has built a total of 652 apartments in Zadar County. In the municipality of Sveti Filip i Jakov, the issuance of a building permit is underway for two residential buildings with 12 apartments intended for war veterans and civilian victims of the Homeland War.
Bačić also noted that APN has so far built 9,156 apartments across Croatia in 297 buildings in 83 local government units. Currently, 443 housing units worth €62.8 million are under construction in Trogir, Novalja, Osijek, Karlovac, Kumrovec, Omišalj, Kostrena, Pula and Vrsar, while foundation stones will soon be laid in Vrlika and Virovitica.
The second agreement signed in Zadar today concerns the lease of part of a state-owned property for the development of a parking area in Ravnice.
“The development of the Ravnice area, which will provide 370 parking spaces, is one of the most important and attractive spatial resources of our city, located at the very entrance to the historic centre,” said Mayor Erlić, stressing that resolving the Ravnice area is crucial for the city’s functioning, especially during the tourist season.
Before his visit to Zadar, Minister Bačić also signed a property donation agreement for affordable housing purposes with the mayor of Ražanac, Damir Jordan.
“In Ražanac, we signed an agreement donating 22,000 square metres for the development of a residential zone under the housing programme for young people. The land is worth more than €1.4 million,” he said. The municipality of Ražanac will provide utility infrastructure for the residential zone, after which building plots will be sold to residents at very favourable conditions for the construction of houses.
