EU Internal Market Centre

Single entry to the EU internal market

The EU internal market (including Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) offers its citizens and businesses a variety of opportunities, such as studying, recruiting or expanding entrepreneurial activities to another Member State, etc. In particular, it is necessary to obtain timely information and contact certain competent authorities in a timely manner.

Since the accession to the EU, many points of contact and tools have been in place within the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development that provide citizens, businesses and authorities with fast and free access to essential information on EU internal market rights and opportunities:

  • they provide consumers, free of charge, information about their rights regarding cross-border purchases and help them submit complaints and resolve disputes with traders (European Consumer Centre Croatia)

  • they provide, free of charge, information on terms and conditions in Croatia, primarily regarding the right of establishment and the freedom to provide services, and also provide business registration in Croatia (Point of single contact for services)

  • they inform the public concerned, free of charge, about the planned adoption of national technical regulations across the EU, Turkey and Switzerland (TRIS - Technical Regulations Information System)

  • they provide information, free of charge, on national technical regulations for products specific to individual EU Member States and on the principle of mutual recognition for a given type of product for the purpose of placing a product on the market (Product Contact Point)

  • in order to make it easier for Croatian entrepreneurs to start entrepreneurial activity in other EU Member States, they enable the Croatian authorities electronic administrative cooperation with the authorities of other EU Member States (Internal Market Information System - IMI)

  • they help citizens and businesses to resolve their disputes with public authorities of other EU Member States when their rights are infringed under the free movement of goods, services, people and capital (SOLVIT Centre Croatia).

In addition to those at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, there is a large number of contact points and tools in Croatia, established in various state administration bodies and institutions, which provide information and assistance in the exercise of rights and opportunities in the EU internal market. To make it easier for you to navigate and direct you to whom to contact depending on your situation, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development set up the EU Internal Market Centre in November 2014. Through its online portal, the Centre brings together existing contact points, tools and competent authorities, thus providing single access to information in the EU internal market. You can get all the relevant information to exercise your rights and opportunities in one place!

This minimises contacting different authorities, and coordination between existing contact points and tools and networking between the Croatian authorities make it possible to increase the competitiveness of the Croatian economy and exports as well as transparency and enforcement of EU rights in Croatia.

The Centre will be continuously expanded and other contact points and tools established in Croatia will also be represented on the portal. So far, the National Point of Contact for providing information on the recognition of professional qualifications, established by the National ENIC/NARIC Office of the Agency for Science and Higher Education, the Enterprise Europe Network, established at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the Product Contact Point for Construction established at the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, and the Europe Direct Central Information Service, have already joined the Centre.
